Next morning charging out of Antonito. At that time, the speed limit from Antonito to MP 286 was 22mph. We went right to the limit. Felt like we were flying...
Russ at the throttle of 488, tearing it up west of Antonito. Hooked up to about 2 notches from center. His fireman has the water a inch below the top of the glass. It doesn't get much better than this..........
Passing Toltec Siding. In the distance you can see the flat cars that were later hauled back with 495. Ahead of them, is the section gang waiting for us to clear.
