When Ft Worth saw what happened to 638 in dallas, they immediately put an 8 ft fence around 610. No one had vandalized it believe it or not. It had been repainted twice while on exhibit.
Here is what it looked like in late 60's.. Not bad. A fella named Pierson was going to rebuild and run excursions with it. He took down the fence and moved it. It sat at the Quarter Master Depot for several years and he did not rebuild it.. A shot of 638 a few months before it was scrapped after only 5 years display. would make you say what a shame..
