To the best of my knowledge most freight car truck springs are two piece, with an outer one that is visible and a smaller one inside it. Being as the rider boxes and rider Gons do not carry heavy loads, couldn't the inner spring be removed to make the springing less stiff, giving a slightly softer ride?. I realize this would not give a truly soft ride, but seems like it would be a little softer than what we have now.
