So I pummeled the budget when I found the two new (2009 and 2011) Sumpter books on eBay for a good price (I would like to have purchased them at the Sumpter depot and support the Restoration but I gotta buy beans for the kids too...)
I am still working out the narrow gauge track arrangement on my layout so I can finish the first two sections of standard gauge in time for the Cherry Festival Train Show in June, I hope to have all track in and building shells in place on Natoma Street by then. One of my questions in my other thread was 'where did the loggers water their locos?' Fine answers were given but I found a nice big picture on pages 122-123 of the book Sumpter Valley Logging Railroads of OLC 101 next to a water trough. Lots of other good info to ponder between now and Safety Weekend in May!
Sumpter Valley Railroad O Scale Track Plan
And such good timing to receive them today, three days after I got laid off from work! At least lodging is already paid for future Oregon field trips...
Thanks Alfred and Leonard for collecting all this wonderful information in these books. The Forum is a great place but nothing beats sitting down with a good book or two accompanied by a lazy cat!
