Just a quick update on Uintah 50. We have one bolster nearly complete. We were able to set it in the truck and test fit it under the car for the first time. It fit just like we designed it to, only some more minor adjustments before we finish welding it up. Once this one is complete we will start the second one. In other new the car has a brake cylinder hanging under it again for the first time in 70+ years.
Here we see the Atchee style extension side bearing bolster on the work bench.
Here it is in the truck. The rail is 52lbs rail from Troy steel circa 1878. Same size rail as the Uintah used to reinforce the rear platform.
Finally we see it with the car sitting on the bolster. The ends of the rail will be cut level and a box platform welded on so we can mount the side bearing rollers. Also the reliefs cut into the rail will be welded up.
