During the week of Jan 23-28 2017 Colorado Railroad Museum staff visited the Strasburg Railroad Company shop. We went to check on the progress of RGS 20, see whats left to be done and determine a date for her return to Colorado. I am happy to report that No.20 has come a long way since 2006, and every bit of work that Linn and his crew have done is top notch.
Together Linn, the Museum Trustees, Mike, and Myself have decided we will pick up No.20 on July 31, 2017. We have already made the shipping arrangements. This means No. 20 will be back at the museum in time for the National Narrow Gauge Convention so please come and see her! Once back at the Museum our staff and volunteers will continue the restoration till she is finished. We do not have a final completion date for 20, that will be determined once she is back and we assess whats left to be done. We all want to the most famous ten wheeler back in operation. A big thanks to Linn and his staff for all the hard work they have put in to bring 20 back to life. Its no small task to rebuild the most worn out piece of RGS history.
Here are some pictures from our visit.
From the rear you can see the patch in the backhead.
