Returning to the topic of mysterious rectangular builder's plates on Baldwins from the early 1880s, I recently encountered this BLW builder's photo of an 0-4-0T built for the New York Elevated RR. Note the shape and size of the builder's plate. This suggests it's actually the real deal and that my earlier skepticism was unwarranted.
