Hi Chris,
Fastest i've ever crossed between engines was memorable at 55 mph. Now in my old age i want 30 or slower, usually it is a lot slower still as alarm bells tend to ring most ring when pulling long grades...but i guess you'd already know that from the NZR. Apples to oranges perhaps but i have seen a nasty injury occur from just stepping into a side stirrup step in snowy weather. The yard I work out of has had three deaths in the last 30 years. As you of course know this stuff plays for keeps. I hired out with 25 guys and there are only two of us left in service!
