Hi, Dave -
The USUAL peak is around the last week of September / first FEW days of October, but there's really no accurate way to predict exactly what will happen from year to year. Back in 2009 I spent a marvelous day chasing around with Roger Hogan and Michael Ripley on September 29. That evening there was some wind, and the next day 1/3 to 1/2 of the yellow leaves were on the ground
. . .
There were still quite a few green leaves that hadn't turned yet - see [
ngdiscussion.net] and [
ngdiscussion.net] - so there was still some color for several more days, but the peak was clearly September 29. Per reports from others on the NGDF, and from Roger posted elsewhere, there is a lot more orange this year than normally. The Friends' charter about a week from tomorrow should be phenomenal!!
