Hi all,
I am new to this forum, and for that matter mining railroads. I am building an ore bin based on the D&RGW bin in the Narrow Gague & Shortline plans in a 1989 issue. It was designed for coal, but I see little difference from bins at gold or silver mines. It is small and open about 30' square. They say, in the notes, it is not a coal tipple, what is the difference between a tipple and an ore bin? Do precious metal mines have tipples? or is there a more correct term.
I was trying to describe it to a non-railroader and was not sure I was using the correct terms, so I thought I would ask.
Thanks
Pat
