Keller and associate's efforts in Alviso and later at Lake Tahoe were fairly well reported on at the time by local media. See: [

There was a long write up with the newspaper article that I didn't scan. I was working in San Francisco at the time and recall seeing the 12 loaded on the rail cars on the State Belt Railroad's trackage near where I worked, and recall driving by the lumber yard many times in Alviso where they initially staged this equipment. The Bay Area railfan contingent of the time followed all this fairly closely--it came on the heels of Roaring Camp that started building roughly 3 or 4 years before Keller's efforts.
