Re: Post Office names

When the D&RG was racing toward Ouray they did not want to build past Ridgway. The town of Ouray knew they needed a rail connection and raised money to help the D&RG build toward town but the D&RG decided it would only build to just outside town at a company established townsite named Ramona. The name Ramona CO was rejected by the post office because Ramona CA already existed in San Diego County CA.
The new town was plotted and some lots were sold but the D&RG changed their mind at the last minute and abandoned the Ramona plan and instead built all the way to Ouray. (My favorite branch)
