Westbound single engine from Antonito?

Did the Rio Grande ever run single engine freights from Antonito to Chama when they didn't have enough loads to fill out a big train? Or did they just wait until they had 60+ cars? Since charters often run from Chama to Osier and back with only a single engine, I was wondering if this is ever realistic for the westbound portion of the trip?
