A little gaudy or correct?? Glenbrook is a dead on accurate restoration of the Glenbrook with striping that is VERY Baldwin. It may not fit the contemporary taste of some of those that follow the Black Locomotives Matter genre but it is what the Victorian era used for wood burning locomotives. By the way, an enormous amount of research went into the correct striping and coloring of the Glenbrook. A full report is on file at the NSRM CC for review. Also, the original Baldwin finish schedules are at Stanford University. There are also a number of early photos that show Glenbrook's original finish.
The goal of the NSRM CC is to do a historically accurate restoration in all respects. Many locomotives out there have been "restored" by guessing at what they should look like. As a result, I will admit that there are some gaudy and inaccurate ones out there...take stacks,.red domes, red wheels, etc etc. Glenbrook may be bright and colorful.....but it is accurate and original..
