It's pretty clear that the film was shot at silent speed of either 15 or 18 fps but the conversion to tape was done at sound speed of 24 fps, so the train is really moving between 25 - 40 percent slower than it appears. Still, that little Climax A with the two speed gearbox moves right along.

It would be nice if someone could convert the film using modern digital equipment so the highlights are not so badly blown out and so the full frame could be visible. Whoever did it cut off the top portion of the frame since the video 3/4 aspect ratio doesn't match the film aspect ratio.
