Here is a series of questions.
As segments of narrow gauge started closing, what were the various dispositions of the no longer necessary passenger cars.
I know many went south to Mexico. A few went to California. Uncle Bob acquired a few. And others became cabins in various locations like Trout Lake.
So what I am wondering is this:
When did the Chilli Line cars leave the D&RGW and to who. Did they see any service on the San Juan extension?
Did any cars stay in Salida for various uses or was everything moved to Alamosa or scraped once service up north ended?
Did combine 215 see use on the Silverton branch in its Pagosa configuration?
How did the San Juan cars get to Montrose for loading to go to California and was there any rhyme to which cars were purchased?
Did the future CRRM cars get acquired at the same time or over time?
Now how about the C&S passenger fleet? Were these scraped or did any get sold for reuse on other roads?
Sorry for the crazy ramblings but I have a soft spot for passenger equipment. As such it seems that there is a very low number of baggage cars left. Is this due to a low number built?
