The SR&RL Then and Now #5 -- Perham Pit

"Perham Pit" was the name given to the gravel bank near the bottom end of the Barnjum Branch of the SR&RL, just above Perham Junction. It was an important source of ballast and fill material for the railroad.

There's still plenty of ballast available -- if only there were still a railroad to use it on.
