I was hoping somebody with more current knowledge might reply. From the bits and pieces I hear it seems unlikely that anyone in Guatemala is trying to run anything. Most of the railroad is being dismantled by metal thieves. The stuff that made it to the museum in Guatemala City will probably survive but have heard nothing about any efforts to actually run anything on what might be left of the tracks. As you seem to be aware, the situation is El Salvador is a bit more hopeful, but beyond the short commute service over the former FES and the one sorta serviceable engine I have heard nothing new. I wonder if the lineage of the serviceable engine has been determined. It is numbered 12 but is definitely not the old FES 12. My guess is it may be the former IRCA 112 from Guatemala that was sold to the FES and operated as the FES 112 but they want to market it as an FES original.
