D&RGW Durango-Silverton train desination

For a long time the Durango-Silverton train ran by the D&RGW was a mixed, moving both freight and passengers. After the scrapping of the San Juan extension from Chama to Durango, the Durango-Silverton branch was isolated and the last small piece of NG operated by the D&RGW. My question is when did the Silverton's designation change from a mixed train to a passenger train (mainly tourists), or was the Silverton train designated a mixed until the end if D&RGW operation in 1981?
