I made a bunch of trips to the DRGW narrow gauge in the 1960 to 1968 time frame, and the details of some trips remain as clear as if they were yesterday. But then I occasionally run across a picture and draw a complete blank as to the when, where, or why of the picture. It can be very frustrating. The picture that started this thread was a good example, and while with Chris and Dick's help I have the where pinned down, I still have no idea when.
And then I recently ran across a picture of the 487 heading east through Oxford with a five car train. At least it is a date stamped slide so I know if was around September 1964. And I have the same train at Ignacio. But then on the relocation it has suddenly become a 20-30 car train, but with the same five cars on the rear. I probably once knew the details, but now I can only guess that it picked up the cars somewhere, probably set out by a prior train that had problems. Pictures are great, but they sure don't always tell the whole story.
