Porter photo -- Henry Stephens & Co., Waters Michigan

I acquired the photo below a couple of years ago, but know very little about it. There is a note on the back that says "Porter engine at Waters. Henry Stephens & Co.", and that the image is from the collection of C. T. Stoner of Dexter, Michigan.
Does anyone know the history of this operation?
