Hello again-
I came across yet another roll of moldy oldie negatives recently - from mid-January, 1973 -
a few of which were salvageable. Inspired by Kevin's shots of Rosie the Riveter, I decided to
go ahead and post some of them. No engines were fired up during my brief visit to Chama,
but there was one in the shop undergoing a major overhaul; I think it was #488, as IIRC #483,
#484 and #487 had all operated during the previous regular season.
Do these photos of the interior of a K-36 prove or disprove the old adage, "Beauty is only Skin Deep"?
The first one shown above was apparently taken through a washout hole in the back of the boiler. The others look like I was in the smokebox shooting through the flue holes in the front tube sheet - except for the last one, which was probably taken through the firebox doorway
