Hey everyone.
I'm getting ready to build my Mears Junction pile bridge and wanted to see if anyone might have some answers to my questions. I do have the standard D&RGW pile trestle plans, which might be where the questions are being generated. Anywho...here we go.
1). The Mears bridge is a 5 pile bridge. My question is, would they have kept the same dimensions on the pile caps and load bearing stringers as they were on the standard 4 pile bridges. Or did the Grande use the standard gauge dimensions? I'm starting to wonder if they did a hybrid of the narrow and standard plans because of it being on a curve.
2) did the 5 pile dimension maintain the 1' 6" from the center line or plumb line the same as it was on the 4 pile. The angled bents I'd assume still are on the 2' centers.
Thanks for any help on this stuff. Looking forward to getting going on this bridge.
