Regarding Sam's comment regarding insurance, this isn't the place to get into all the details, but I can say there was no problem among the D&S management, GGHS, and RRM, the complications were between the D&S' insurance company and the company that has provided liability insurance for the GGHS and RRM. An agreement for liability insurance to cover everyone was reached a couple of weeks ago, after literally months of communication, and we are on for Railfest. However, folks should be aware that this is very expensive for our two small museums. For us at Ridgway, our share of the cost of insurance for trips including revenue passengers for this week only, plus the cost of transporting GG4 from Telluride to Durango and back, amount to several thousand dollars. If every seat is filled for all of the runs at Railfest, our share of the ticket sales should just about cover the insurance and transportation costs, and none of the costs of lodging, etc for the several-person crew. Including the lodging costs, costs for the whole event would nearly equal our entire annual museum budget. Our crew are paying for lodging costs out of their own pockets. Insurance and transportation costs are expected to increase in the near future, so as previously said, if you want to ride the Geese, do it now.
