20th Annual Boreas Pass Railroad Day

The newly renovated Como Depot (and newest Railroad Museum) will be dedicated at noon on August 22, 2015 during the 20th annual Boreas Pass Railroad Day. Also open in Como - the roundhouse, historic schools, selected railroader homes and possibly the hotel. Ride the rails on a hand car, either at Rocky Point on the Como side of the pass, or in downtown Como (if the rails are completed by then). Dutch oven cooking demos and samples will be waiting for you at Roberts Cabin. At the Section House listen to a talk on the very first Railroad Day 20 years ago or Tom Klinger's talk on the wrecks that happened on Boreas. While you're listening, have breakfast of pancakes, coffee and juice courtesy of the South Park Ranger District. On the Breckenridge side, stop at Bakers Tank for an informative talk and venture down to the Highline Railroad Park to see Engine No. 9 and some new exhibits there. Other exhibits are in the final planning stages.
