Ed Lowrance just posted photos showing the work completed in Antonito this week. When you see the photo of the new composite truck, please notice it is sitting on the first one completed on Thursday. Not too bad for one days work.
The drop bottom gon is for all practical purposes finished needing only about one more day to have it ready to paint and stencil. Remember this is the car that was taken down to it's spine just a few years ago and is the deepest rebuild of a gon in Friends history. EVERY SINGLE SILL and all wood on this car have been replaced, that is about as thorough of a rebuild as you can do.
Clyde Putman's team has been working on the flatcar idler for OB's brakes getting them ready for the MOW train Oct 3rd and the pile driver and OP car demonstrations on the 4th. Do you have your ticket yet?
Friday photos for session E in Antonito
Joe has posted photos of work done on the other end of the railroad in Chama. Work is being done on not only the coal tipple buckets, but on the Fairbanks Morse diesel engine as well. Don Stewart and his team has been busy painting cars MOW gray down in the swamp and they certainly look better. The two tank cars that Roy and Thom painted session C are getting new decking and should be ready for stenciling soon. Work is being done on the Friends new trailer setting it up to be a workshop for remote locations like Lava pump house and Sublette, and work is continuing on the box cars with Don Bayer's team working on sills and needle beams. (I hope I got that right)
