There is no legitimate brake system, link and pin couplers (it was never up graded), and we need a set of brasses. It is riding on wood replacement "brasses" which are ok for an occasional movement. The funding available did not allow for or anticipate a fully operational car. It took 10 years to finalize a Colorado gaming fund grant, plus a lot of additional fund raising to get where we are today. The car sat in the Durango yard for about 10 years anticipating that the D&S would do the work once the money was in place (they did the initial historic structures report for the CHS) but then their work load and scheduling meant that the historical society returned the car to Silverton for the required work.
