Harzer Schmalspurbahn Advice

Greetings,

I will be in Germany on a Business trip in August, and have managed to arrange a day and a half in the Harz region to photograph the HSB.

I am looking for tips and photo locations, which are away from the major depots, and will have a minimum number of other chasers in the way. I do not plan on chasing trains, but rather do spot stakeouts, trying the get the best photos possible, with the minimum number of people in the way.

Also would like to know if night photography is possible in the Wernigerode shops area, without actually being in side the shop perimeter?

Any tips, and location suggestions would be greatly appreciated. On my full day (a Friday), I was thinking about shootings trains on the HSB and Brokkenbahn side, and then spending the afternoon on the Selketabahn side of the railway (good idea?)
