Came across this recent print of an old photo at a shop in Bayfield recently. It's not in any of the books I have (but that may not say much), or in the DPL collection. Has anyone seen this one, or any way to estimate the date? Coincidentally, this is a view from almost the same spot as the new Depot Cam.
This specific view may have been of less historic interest, because the yard is pretty empty. There is a similar undated view on pg. 32 of Dorman's Chama/Cumbres book, showing a much busier yard, but (I think) of a much different time. In Dorman's view the depot is in a two-color scheme, and shows some signs of deterioration of the platform. So, this was taken before the coal tipple was built in 1924, and sometime earlier or later (?) than the image in Dorman's book.
The Yard details visible in this photo are interesting. Note the stub switches, harp stands, some track modifications in the foreground, and many others. In the background there looks to be an unidentifiable consolidation on the shop lead.
Oh-as an afterthought. We're still hard at work on Bobber 1008. It's Just that frame member documentation and creation of drawings isn't photogenic. We'll have a photo update soon.
