Sad News - Tim McCartney Passes

Those of us who are avid followers of the West Side Lumber Co. lost one of the nicest experts in this field we will ever know.

Word out of Ohio just came in that our friend Tim McCartney lost his battle to cancer yesterday. Tim had succeded in his fight with cancer for several years, but it finally came back and now he is gone.

Tim posted here whenever the topic of the West Side came up and Tim saw that more information was needed to answer questions. He will be missed on this forum.

I was lucky to cal Tim a good friend. He and I enjoyed our visits and phone calls and back and forth on e-mail on the topic of the West Side. Even though tim lived in Ohio, he had visited the West Side many times over the years and interviewed many of the train crews to lear how the WSL operations really were. This made Tim one of the leading experts on this famous logging line.
