Colorado Central Magazine (a regional publication from Salida, Colorado) reviewed
Hollywood's Railroads, Volume Three: Narrow Gauge Country in its May 2015 issue. We thank reviewer Forrest Whitman for his kind words! And, no ... we do not know Mr. Whitman personally. We submitted a copy and took our chances! The review is attached.
For those of you who have the book ... what do or don't you like about the information presented? It's part of a series. Tell us how we can make future books better.
If you don't have a copy, it can be purchased now by searching "Hollywood's Railroads" on eBay. We'd love to ship one to you!
Hollywood's Railroads, Volume One: Virginia & Truckee (the standard gauge big brother of the Carson & Colorado and Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company narrow gauge lines) should be available by the end of June.
While the recently restored C&TL&F
Glenbrook at the Nevada State Railroad Museum was not a movie star, its sister engine
Tahoe (better known as Nevada County Narrow Gauge #5) became a big star at Universal Studios and will be covered in
Volume Four: Studio Backlots & Ranches. The Carson & Colorado successor, the Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge, spent some time with John Wayne, Gene Autry, and Hopalong Cassidy, and will also appear in a future volume.
Many thanks!
