SFAIK, Doug -

The only rails near Mono were those of the Mono Railway, which - according to David Myrick's
'Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California' - existed from sometime between 1906 and 1908
when the railroad operations of Mono Lake Railway & Lumber Co. were separated from the pro-
duction of lumber.  The parent company was founded in 1906 from the Bodie Railway & Lumber
Company, which in turn was the name of the Bodie & Benton Railway that was created circa 1882
from the Bodie Railway & Lumber Company, which was built in 1881 to supply timber to the mines
in the Bodie area ...     spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Did you follow that?   Just to be sure, there will be a quiz tomorrow - National RR Day - at 11:23 a.m.
