I am working on a web page for the Alder Gulch Short Line (www.helenet.com/~alder) which runs a mile and a half between Nevada City and Virginia City. The site is not finished, but perhaps it's ready for a preview from some of the faithful. A bit of constructive criticism might be useful before the site gets into final form.
The Alder Gulch is 30 inch gauge tourist railroad that has been around for 25 years or more and has recently begun operating an oil-burning 1909 Baldwin consolidation originally built for the Ferrocarril Mexicano. This locomotive was delivered last summer after a museum-quality restoration by John Larkin and his crew of artisans from the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad. There is more of a story there, but I need to get it written up for the web page. Right now there are mainly some photos and a guest book that doesn't quite work. I think anyone who likes small locomotives will get a kick out of Engine No. 12.
