My neighbor, Lloyd Zamora moved to Monero in the mid/late forties as an 11 year old boy. His father was a rancher/farmer and had a ranch much farther south, but due to an ongoing drought moved his family and operation to Monero. Lloyd told me he used to keep a few old tires in the stream down by the RR tracks. He would quickly yank them out after sitting overnight and there would always be a few trout in them the next morning. He used to get paid from the locals to bring water to them from the stream, and that was his job for several years. He vividly rememebers the trains, the coal mine, depot and all the other buildings that were there when he was a young boy. I may take my ipad and pay him a visit and see if he can identify buildings, etc in the photos that you ahve posted. I will share any anectdotes with all of you that he shares with me
