A little background here. The museum location was chosen way back when as a place to show off the equipment, in a natural setting for photography. Now, years later, with a massive amount of stuff jammed into the place, it is hard to get a good shot of a lot of it.
While a shelter is one idea, I personally find these types of buildings a distraction and an eye sore that takes up a lot of space. Space at the CRRM is still limited. So is the funds to build such a thing.
The weather in Golden is dry, for the most part. Over the years, I spray painted dry wood with the Unka Bob mixture of half paint, half linseed. It seemed to work and, except for the color being to red, the fleet held up pretty well.
