All of the Harbour Station track was taken up completely and relaid by volunteers from the Black Hand Gang (who mainly live within a 50 mile radius) or the Rest of the World Gang (which is self explanatory). They are well practised since at least half of them have been volunteering for 20 years or more. There would have been around 20 well experienced people on site for four weekends.
Harbour station now has two platform faces, each with a run round loop and four storage sidings, as well as water and coaling facilities and an inspection pit for emergency repairs.
All of the points and signals are power operated from a central cabin which also contains an illuminated track panel. Unusually, the relays are in a separate small cabin close to the signal cabin. The railway, of course, has its own signals and telephone department and carries out its own Project Management.
