When I was a kid remember seeing how far I could walk on the rail head. The rail head was slippery and you could easily fall off or loose your balance. That made it fun. I once walked two blocks on the rail head without slipping off.

The line was a UP branch to Ketchum, ID. The line is now gone. I did not have to worry about trains because at that time the train ran only once a week on that line on Tuesdays. I always looked for the train and was disappointed if I messed it.
