Also inside the engine house is the whistle from the Lihue Mill. Scott asked for the whistle when the mill was slated for demolition and was guaranteed it would be donated to Grove Farms. Scott was off the island when the mill was torn down several years ago. When he returned he thought the whistle must have been lost. While looking at the pile of scrap that had been the smokestack he noticed a greenish patch of metal peeking out from all of the rusty pieces. It turned out to be the whistle, and while it was damaged when the stacked was pulled down, it is restorable:
