Look back at the photo of the long reefer, and look at the bottom of the hatch sticking up in the air. Notice the two metal sliders, these correspond with metal tabs on the plugs themselves. Figured this out when I examined the ex-D&RGW reefer at Sumpter when it was in the car shop.
