We had 4 different trains last Saturday. First was the non prototypical three engines on the point up the hill to Cumbres. My request* (and maybe others too). On the top, 463 was sent light to Osier, and the 487 pulled our 21 car train to Osier. At Osier, 487 was put in the middle of the consist, and 463 became road engine. We doubled to Cumbres. At the top of Cumbres, 463 took the first half of the train down the hill to Chama, while 487 pulled section two (with the riders) down the hill. That gave us a rather different photo op. 487 stopped at Windy Point, while 463 waited at Coxo for our go ahead. When we stopped for the great view of third crossing, 463 was given the high ball, and we could photograph it crossing Hwy 17. Shortly after that, we took off.
*In part because I like the way it looks. Also, the whistle talk between the three engines crossing Lobato one by one was cool. Each of our three engines has a different whistle, and the music at the bridge was great. I will be posting a youtube when I get it edited. Had we done this with one of the engines mid train, we would have lost the concert at the bridge.
