Rehunn,
From your multiple posts on the other scanning thread plus the two so far in this one, we get it that you think the Plustek scanners are wonderful. I'm quite sure when used skillfully, they are capable of producing good scans. However, as Michael pointed out, most folks have only used one or two scanners and don't have enough experience to make a truly accurate, scientific, comparison. You say you have a Nikon 4000 and it is not as good as your Plustek. How? Does it have worse shadow detail, not as sharp? Harder to use? Learning to really use the scanning software properly is paramount to getting good scans. I assume you used Nikonscan and maybe Vuescan to run your 4000. Problem is, the experience of virtually every other user runs counter to your opinion. You might be correct that your Plustek is actually better than your Nikon. However, the only way that is likely is if the Nikon is defective, or there is some "operator error".
The filmscanner.info website surprised me by their frankness in the reviews. They have tested all the scanners, software, accessories, etc. of any use in film scanning, so I value their opinions regarding one scanner vs. another. Exactly why I posted their website to use as a resource if you are in the market for a scanner.
