Back in May I rode the 'Work Extra 315' charter on the Cumbres and Toltec. A lot of coordination was necessary for this event, as the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec operated restored Pile Driver OB on the 1st day of the trip. The next day had 2-8-0 #315 pulling a mixed freight, while the last day of the trip had #315 pulling the Pile Driver back to Antonito, CO. This short video shows a handful of clips from the 1st and 2nd days. #315 is running tender first in the opening sequence in order to power the pile driver.
I had a great time on this trip, and got a lot of unique shots. I also caught the 315/463 doubleheader on opening day. Many thanks to Jay Wimer of Chama Steam Excursions who made this all possible, the Durango Railroad Historical Society which owns and operates the 315, the Friends of the C&TS who restored and operate the Pile Driver, and of course the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.
