The Cactus Air Force did a lot of flying with the
Douglas on Guadalcanal. There's a very interesting outdoor
museum to the west of where Henderson Field was located
that has a number of wrecks and parts from the 6 month long
struggle and included is a fuselage from one. Beticama
Museum near the Lunga Power plant also has an SBD outside.
The Marines and Navy really did a lot of damage to Japanese
shipping and the large losses of transports and other supply
ships helped to shorten the war.
