The last time I was on Vancouver Island over the scanner comes the dispatcher telling the RDC train that they would meet the STEAM TRAIN at .... I couldn't believe it! I set up my tripod and around the curve comes 2 odd flat cars with rubber skirts, a steam generator car, a diesel and a multitude of water filled tanks. The CP RY was testing a "steam the weeds" experiment. It didn't work. The vegetation was only cooked above the surface and then the water from the condensed steam brought the roots back to life! JP
