Early DRG Question

April 18, 2014 09:46AM
Interesting information that I stumble onto in the December 1978 Issue of LIVE STEAM,
“By 1885 the company (EBT) already possessed six passenger cars, 250 freight cars, and seven locomotives: two 2-6-0’s, four 2-8-0’s and one 0-6-0T, all three-foot gauge. One of the 2-8-0’s, EBT number 3, was originally scheduled for delivery to the Denver and Rio Grande as their number 13, but it was feared that her 26 tons would overwhelm the D&RG’s 30-pound rail, so Baldwin sent her to the EBT……. (and it shows a picture of her factory picture before deliverance was made all dolled up in Rio Grande Colors Sporting the name Mosca, 13)

Really? What was the heaviest engine to run on the D&RG’s 30 pound rail? C-25 & K-27’s?

Still a Student,

Dave
