Interesting. If the #283 had that same original steel Baldwin boiler of 1880, it sure served a long time. It was sold to the Nevada County Narrow Gauge in 1933 and became their #8. It survived till the end of that railroad in 1942, and was sold to the Plaster City interests. It survived until 1950, for which I believe was the last C-16 scrapped.
