Magma Arizona 7 stayed in Superior until the TRS got ahold of it and moved it to Texas in 1974 (so I was off by a year - when I wrote the above, I didn't have any notes available to me. All my Magma pics, notes and books are in my office). A couple of outfits showed interest in #7, including the Valley Railroad in CT. But TSR was the winner, and it left Superior by flat car(s) in late June 1974. The #7 was shipped directly to Houston to the Hahn & Clay Machine and Boiler Shop where it was overhauled. It went into service on the TSR as #400 in May, 1978.
#7 has always been a SG engine. It was built for the Tremont & Gulf Ry in Winfield, LA in 1917. She is "almost" a cousin to a K-36. The BLW class for a K-36 is : 12-34 1/4E, meaning a K-36 is a 2-8-2 with 20" dia cylinders. #7 is 12-36 1/4E, meaning she is a 2-8-2 with 21" cylinders. #7 is a lightweight at only 88 tons compared to a K36 at 93 tons. Tractive effort of #7 was 34000, compared to 36000 for a K36. The T&GRy sold her to Magma Arizona in 1954.
Open air car #70 was built for the International & Great Northern as a lounge car (don't have a date handy). It became Missouri Pacific, then into MOW service as MP #4084. The car was completely gutted when it showed up here, and was converted to an open air car.
