The 1939 aerial photographs of the area show only the wye that is in red on the above photo. The terrain where the purple lines are drawn shows no indication of the cuts and fills that would have been necessary to construct a loop. I am pretty confident it never existed there.

The balloon loops at Austin and Tipton show very clearly in not only the old aerial photographs but also in the more recent LIDAR bare earth imagary.
