Re: Tonnage train in a storm on the C&TS Part IV

Here we get underway after stalling at Orgasm Curve. You can hear the helper back there having traction troubles too and Dave again checks the water in the tender and it appears there is not much left. I get on the radio and call the conductor to tell them we need to set out the freight cars at Cresco as if we haven't run out of sand yet, continuing like we were we would most assuredly. At this point we were about 30 minutes late and getting later by the mile. After whistling for Cresco, we actually seem to get our act together and start getting a bit of a wind up on the train. But once we duck into the trees at Cresco, we go back to our hard slog. This ends as we make the spot at Cresco.

Go get water Dave, I'll mind the fire. Don't let the spout whack you on the noggin....(which it nearly did).
