What was Where in Alamosa, Way back When . . . (map)

Hi, All -

Due to all of the recent interest and many questions concerning the D&RGW RR facilities in Alamosa, Ernie Robart has graciously given me permission to scan the map on page 16 of the book 'Rio Grande Narrow Gauge - The Final Years, Alamosa to Chama' (R.Robb, 2001), which Ernie co-authored with Joseph P. Hereford several years ago, and to post the map here on the NGDF:

Note that I have modified the scan slightly to better fit here, slightly enlarged the numbers on the drawing to make it a bit easier to identify the various shops and facilities of the railroad, and added a copyright notice . . .

Per Ernie, the book is still in print and is currently available from The Friends of the C&TS office in Albuquerque.  This book is filled with well over 100 pages of Ernie and Joe's excellent photographs and their detailed descriptions of the last few years of freight operations over Cumbres Pass.  It is HIGHLY recommended to anyone interested in the history of the D&RGW's San Juan Extension.
